Mandoulides Basketball Academy (MBA)

Mandoulides Schools hosts basketball games and tournaments in two separate basketball arenas – at the elementary school and the junior and senior high school.  The purpose of MBA is to discover and develop new talent in the sport while molding the young participant’s personality and developing physical health and mental prowess.  The academy divides attendants into categories for children, teenagers and adult men. The school’s teams have won six national championships without a defeat and two worldwide tournaments.

Sofocles Scortzianitis, Savvas Iliadis, Kostas Sloukas, Haris Markopoulos, Nick Zisis, all well-known players in the Greek national professional league, attended the MBA.  Their names stand out among the hundreds of talented young basketball players who have benefited from attending out academy.  The Mandoulides men’s team competes in the division three national league and is a part of MBA.

Mandoulides Basketball Academy was founded in 1994 and continues today.  Nikos Keramefs, a successful head coach on the national level, is the managing director of the academy,  Coach Keramefs coached teams to three European titles in his tenure at the national level.  

The academy works with boys and girls from the ages of six through fourteen.  The academy begins in September and ends on the first weekend June with closing event worthy for any basketball spectator to watch.  In 2006-07 the academy added another practice session to accompany the weekend practices, now  basketballers from fourth through sixth grades elementary and seventh and eighth grade junior high now get the additional practice time they need.  Girls from the seventh grade take part in the MINI competition.
